Main Street Dayton presents the twelfth in a series of historic ornaments showcasing the community’s
places of interest and importance.
The 2018 ornament features Cedar Hill Hospital, Dayton’s first modern hospital. This grand building,
built in 1929, has also been home to the Bryan College women’s dormitory, the Bryan cafeteria, a
motel/boarding house, and later as the Bryan College Married Students dormitory. The building has
seen several owners and has been apartments since the late 1960’s.
This incredibly detailed ornament features Drs. Walter and Agnew Tomison, sitting on the bench,
original landscaping, and the beautiful original brick columns, which are now covered.
All 12 ornaments will be available at the MainStreet Dayton tent during The Downtown Holiday Stroll as
well as at the Rhea County Welcome Center, located on 107 Main Street in Dayton or online at
Ornaments are $25 each.
